Kiev Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kiev Monastery of the Caves, is a historic Orthodox Christian monastery in Kiev, Ukraine. Founded in the 11th century by two monks, Anthony and Theodosius, it became an important center of spirituality, scholarship, and culture in Eastern Europe. Over the centuries, the monastery was expanded and embellished with numerous churches, bell towers, and other architectural and artistic landmarks, attracting pilgrims and visitors from all over the world. Today, it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains an active monastery and a symbol of Ukraine's rich spiritual and cultural heritage.
